“Save Our State” was a coalition of construction contractors seeking greater State investment in Connecticut's roadways. We steered the group to a more powerful strategy – promoting broader transportation investment, not just road building, and tying it to economic development. We created a new coalition, “Keep CT Moving,” and helped recruit a wider membership from mass transit, chambers of commerce, business and industry associations. With more influential proponents, the message carried more weight. And, in the end, the strategy was a sizable win. The governor signed the largest transportation bill in the state's history, with a promise to approve similar-sized packages in the coming years.
